Abstract

The article analyzes the ancient calendrical rituals of the Uzbek people based on archaeological sources. The study employs historical, comparative-logical, sequential, and objective methods. The rock carvings depict the people’s astronomical beliefs, the cult of the sun and the moon, mythological concepts related to fertility, and seasonal rituals. Petroglyphs discovered in archaeological sites such as Soymalitosh, Sarmishsoy, Bukantau, and others provide evidence of ancient agricultural traditions, veneration of celestial bodies, and socio-cultural customs related to the calculation of the year. The results of the study show that the calendrical concepts and rituals of our ancestors, based on astronomical observations, played a central role in their social life and culture
